Calling all creative lighters! London needs you!

The 1st October 2015 is the 3rd Chase The Dark. We want you to use your phone torch light to create a WOW effect with shadow puppets. We’ve got the card, the sticks the tape and some magical shadow puppet templates!

Join us for hot pizza, a beverage or two and show the world how creative you are!



Light enthusiasts, mark your calendars, because the countdown for Chase the Dark on 1 October has officially begun! Now in its third year, Chase the Dark is bigger than ever, with 30 cities pledged to take part.

The objective of this global event, hosted by the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and sponsored by acdc and acdc corp, is to connect lighting designers all over the world though the medium of design and the power of light.

Light is the one element that does not require translation; it is available to the world as sunlight, and it’s this universality that drives the initiative of Chase the Dark. For one night, cultures unite as we literally ‘chase the dark’ around the globe. Events will begin on the eastern edge of Australia and work to the western coast of the United States in an effort to see who can come up with the most imaginative lighting effect using only the flashlight function on a mobile phone.

This year, participants will have to have two phones at the ready: one to make the effect and one to take a photo of the effect. Then, the image should be posted to any social media network using the hashtag #ialdchasedark. That’s it!

Anyone around the world can take part in this event, using the materials they have around them and exploring the many lighting effects they can create. Everything is welcome, from glowing elements and gobos, outlandish props and even wine glasses as lenses. You are only hampered by your own imagination. The sky’s the limit – how many wonderful displays can you create with just a phone?
