2015’s ‘How to be Brilliant’ series kicks of at the London Studio on the 24th February, with Florence Lam.

Florence is a Director and an Arup Fellow. She leads Arup’s global lighting design practice, and has been responsible on a range of international projects in the fields of transportation, sports, arts, architecture and public projects including Abu Dhabi International Airport, King Abdullah Sports City, Stonecutters Bridge in Hong Kong, Shenzhen Stock Exchange, California Academy of Sciences, and the strategic lighting masterplan consultancy for 2022 FIFA World CupTM in Qatar.

Florence’s particular interests in visual perception and daylighting have played key roles in many of her innovative design solution on award winning projects, such as the New Acropolis Museum in Athens and the Kings Cross Western Concourse.  She also has a strong interest in visual light art as a lighting designer and has worked with a number of artists and architects in creating public art installation including Anish Kapoor’s ArcelorMittal Orbit in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London and the World’s Largest Timepiece along Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich.

She was named the Lighting Designer of the Year at the UK Lighting Design Awards in 2013.  She is also the recipient of the Lighting Award from the Society of Light and Lighting this year.
