Lights in Alingsas

Lights in Alingsås is today a unique lighting event, which draws world-leading light designers, lighting industry and interested visitors from all over the world to Alingsås. The event has had about 80,000 visits a year in recent years.

Alingsås Light Guide provides suggestions on how lighting can contribute to a safer, more attractive and harmonious urban environment during darkness. The guide contains guidelines for the municipal lighting program for public places and offers inspiration and guidance for private property owners.

The light installations that visitors can enjoy is the result of an international education in experimental lighting of public environments. During six intense workshop days creative ideas will be realized in beautiful Alingsås.

Seven internationally active light designers, together with about sixty students from different parts of the world, gather together to become the world’s largest recurring light design workshop.


On the 12th of Oct there was a Seminar (Ljusteamet) with lighting designers and architects as well as people from the lighting industry speaking to approx. 110 customers.

Zumtobel Group was represented by Per Bäckstrand, who presented the trends in making Spaces into Places, introducing Human Scale Lighting philosophy to the audience as well as giving inspiring examples of successful Architectural Outdoor Lighting projects.

Together with Mikael Nilsson and Jan Börjesson, we introduced the new members of the PLAZA family –Mini and Micro from acdc which offers high quality lighting in a really small size!

Thorn showed THOR, URBA DECO and CiviTEQ whilst Zumtobel showcased NIGHTSIGHT which contribute to enhance the beauty of a space in the hours of darkness.
